Denver Accounting Manager Jobs Run Through Aviation, Auto Shops and Apartment Owners
Denver is one of the few cities where an accounting manager can price a job before applying. Here is what the postings pay, who posts them, and what they ask for.

Of the 31 accounting manager postings we're tracking across the Denver metro right now, 26 put a pay range straight into the listing, and the median midpoint of those ranges lands at $117,000. That 84% disclosure rate is the number I keep coming back to, because the same role in Dallas shows pay in about 36% of postings and in Atlanta about 33%, which makes Denver one of the few places where an accounting manager can price a job before burning an hour on an application. All of this comes from the cleaned postings in our database of 80,000+ accounting and finance jobs, as of October 2026.

Why do Denver accounting manager postings show the pay?

Colorado makes employers do it. The state's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act rules took effect on January 1, 2021 and require a job posting to include the compensation range plus a general description of benefits, and Littler's summary of the final rules points out that remote jobs which could be performed in Colorado have to carry that information too. I like the effect, even though plenty of employers respond by writing ranges wide enough to drive a truck through, and we mapped how much that varies by state in our state-by-state look at salary transparency.

What does an accounting manager actually make in Denver?

The median midpoint across the 26 postings with pay is $117,000, and individual ranges run from a floor of $70,000 to a ceiling of $165,000 depending on the employer. The typical range spans about $20,000 from bottom to top, which is tight enough to be useful, and the number sits in a sensible spot on the ladder: Denver senior accountant postings have a median midpoint of $97,037 and controller postings $140,000, so accounting manager lands about $20,000 above senior and about $23,000 short of controller. If you want that ladder priced for the whole country, we priced every rung.

How does Denver compare with other cities?

Mid-pack, and a little lower than I expected. Seattle comes in at $129,300 (19 of 21 postings show pay), Houston at $128,600 (only 9 of 35 show pay, so I wouldn't lean on that one), New York at $127,500, Chicago at $125,000, then Denver at $117,000, Phoenix at $110,000, Dallas-Fort Worth at $108,750 and Atlanta at $106,641. Where only a quarter or a third of postings show pay, the median rests on whichever employers chose to disclose, and I suspect those skew toward the ones paying competitively, so the gap between Denver and the cities above it may be smaller than it looks and the gap with the cities below it may be bigger. We went deeper on two of them in Seattle and Houston.

Who is hiring accounting managers in Denver?

Not who you'd guess, and not a single industry. The postings in our data right now come from an aviation connectivity company (Gogo Business Aviation), apartment owners and operators like AIR Communities and Mission Rock Residential, an automotive service franchisor (Grease Monkey International), a venue operator (Oak View Group), a transit contractor, a medical device company and a country club. What they share is being mid-sized, multi-location and asset-heavy, which is where an accounting manager ends up running the close, supervising two or three people and answering to a controller or CFO who has no time to do it themselves. Those names will rotate by next month, so treat them as a snapshot, and keep an eye on the live listings on the Audit Friendly job board for the current set.

What do the postings ask for?

18 of the 31 carry some kind of CPA signal, required or preferred, which leaves 13 that don't mention it at all, and we looked at how much that matters to pay in our CPA requirement breakdown. Seven mention hybrid work, none is fully remote, 21 mention a 401(k), and the ERP names are scattered: Sage Intacct in 6 postings, NetSuite in 5, nothing close to a standard. Only one posting out of 31 has any AI signal at all, which tells you how early this is, and also what an easy lead it is for the first manager in town who can talk credibly about it in an interview.

What I'd do

Use the posted range as your anchor and read the top of it as the number for someone with the CPA and real people-management experience, because that's usually how those ranges are built. When a recruiter calls, ask where in the range your background lands before you share your current pay, and in Colorado you're allowed to expect an answer. If you're a senior accountant eyeing the jump, pull five Denver postings you'd actually take, drop their midpoints into a sheet next to your current comp, and see what the step is worth to you in dollars, since for some people it's $20,000 and for others it's a wash after the extra hours. If you'd rather have someone else do the legwork, our recruiter directory lists people who place finance roles.
