Atlanta has 88 live staff accountant openings in our database this week, out of 2,842 live postings across every accounting and finance role we track in the metro, and only 24 of those 88 tell you what the job pays. The middle of those 24 posted ranges lands at $65,000, which is a number I'd trust a little and hold loosely, because the other 64 employers decided you didn't need to see theirs.
These numbers come straight from the postings database behind our accounting and finance job board, which links to employer career pages and strips out most of the recruiter reposts, so this is what Atlanta employers are putting in front of staff accountants as of October 2026.
There are 88 live staff accountant openings in the Atlanta metro in our data, which makes it a real market without being a crowded one. The employer list is spread thin, too - the single biggest poster has 5 openings, and the next few names (Novogradac, Americold, DPR, CBIZ, Emory) each have two or three.
That mix is the interesting part: an accounting and consulting firm, a cold-storage operator, a construction company, an advisory shop and a university are all hiring for roughly the same seat, so the work is spread across industries and your last industry probably has a counterpart here.
Across the 24 postings that show pay, the median midpoint is $65,000. The bands in the data run from a floor of about $31,200 to a ceiling of $122,720, and I'd treat both ends as odd listings and read the middle, since a $31,200 floor and a $122,720 ceiling on the same title are both a little suspicious.
The catch is a big one: 24 out of 88 is 27%, so about three quarters of Atlanta staff accountant postings hide the number, which pisses me off a little every time I see it. A median built on a quarter of the market is a useful anchor, and it probably leans toward the employers confident enough to print their range. If you want to see how Atlanta stacks up against another big metro, our staff accountant salary in Dallas breakdown uses the same method, and the wider story on hidden ranges is in how wide an accounting salary range really is.
None of the 88 are remote, and 17 of them (about one in five) mention hybrid work. If you want to work from your kitchen table, the remote accounting jobs page is the better place to start, since those roles hire nationally and don't care which zip code you live in.
Hybrid is the more realistic ask here. Atlanta is a driving city and the commute is a damn real cost, so an employer who names hybrid up front is telling you they've already thought about it, which beats finding out in the offer stage.
Of the 88, 67 name a bachelor's degree, 3 name a certification, 2 an associate's, 2 a high school diploma, and 14 don't say. About 27 mention a CPA somewhere in the posting, though our data can't always tell "required" from "nice to have," so read that as roughly three in ten leaning on the credential. Another 20 mention a 401(k) in the posting, which is a small thing but at least tells you the employer thought about benefits.
For the national picture, we dug into which accounting postings skip the degree and which ones demand the CPA.
The Georgia State Board of Accountancy lists 150 semester hours of college education, including a bachelor's degree, plus one year and 2,000 hours of supervised experience in public accounting or in business, industry, government or college teaching. That's the standard route, and a staff accountant job can supply the experience half while you finish the credits and the exam.
The wrinkle is the supervision rule: the Board wants the experience supervised by a CPA holding a live permit (government and college teaching are the exceptions). So when you're comparing two offers, ask who you'd report to and whether they hold the license, because a manager who doesn't can quietly stall your clock.
Start with the 24 that show their pay, because an employer that prints a range has already had the awkward conversation internally and you can compare offers on something real. Then take the 64 that stay quiet and ask for the range on the very first call, before you burn an hour on interviews, since a band that can't be shared by the second round is bullshit you don't need to sit through.
After that, pick based on the seat rather than the logo, because a cold-storage operator and an accounting firm will teach you very different things in year one, and one of them is the better stepping stone to the credential you want.
As of October 2026, our database shows 88 live staff accountant openings in the Atlanta metro, out of 2,842 live accounting and finance postings in the area.
Across the 24 Atlanta postings that list pay, the median midpoint is $65,000. Only about 27% of postings show a range, so treat it as a floor-ish anchor rather than the whole market.
Most don't. Roughly 27 of 88 mention a CPA somewhere in the posting, and 67 name a bachelor's degree as the education requirement.
None of the 88 Atlanta-tagged openings are remote, and 17 mention hybrid. Fully remote roles live on the national remote accounting jobs page.
The Georgia State Board of Accountancy requires 150 semester hours of education including a bachelor's degree, plus one year and 2,000 hours of supervised accounting experience, and a passing score on the CPA exam.
If you're job hunting in Atlanta this month, the live version of those 88 openings sits on the job board, pulled from employer career pages and refreshed daily, and the ones with a pay range attached are the ones I'd call first.
