AvidXchange is a US invoice-to-pay platform and supplier payment network for mid-market companies, strongest in real estate, HOA management and construction and also sold to nonprofits, that says it pays 1.5 million suppliers by virtual card, ACH or check.
Independently scored, one dimension at a time. Every dimension is sourced, and we say whether a claim is published, reported, or estimated.
The integrations page lists 240 accounting systems, with API integrations for NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Sage 100 and 50, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Business Central and Dynamics GP, and file-based links for AX, NAV, F&O and SL (integration pages, checked 27 September 2026). Vertical coverage includes Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, Rent Manager, RealPage, Entrata, CINC, Vantaca, Sage 300 CRE, MIP and Blackbaud, and QuickBooks Online syncs GL codes, vendors, invoices and payments. No Xero or SAP page was found, and Workday runs through Invisors, a Workday partner.
The AvidPay Network pays suppliers by virtual Mastercard within one business day of approval, AvidPay Direct ACH within three, or First Class mailed check, and AvidXchange runs enrollment and supplier calls (supplier page, checked 27 September 2026). Buyers can earn rebates on card and AvidPay Direct payments, and fraud controls include a fraud operations team and Positive Pay. AvidXchange describes its payments as domestic in focus (July 2026), no wire method is listed, a November 2022 cross-border launch for NetSuite no longer appears on product pages, and suppliers pay AvidPay Direct fees.
Approval workflows are configured to mirror current rules, the portal keeps audit trails, and 2 and 3-way PO matching is offered with supplier-level tolerances (PO automation page, checked 27 September 2026). The Trust Center lists 2025 SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 reports by Forvis Mazars and PCI DSS v4.0.1, though the ERP partner page still says SOC 2 Type I, and AvidXchange is a licensed money transmitter with OFAC, KYC and Positive Pay controls on its Acumatica page. For 1099s, public pages describe only a report that lists suppliers paid $600 or more (blog updated 29 April 2026), with no filing or W-9 collection tool, and the 10-K discloses an April 2023 breach that exposed some customer bank data.
The vendor says implementation takes as little as 45 days, with a dedicated project team of two or three people running kickoff, scoping, configuration, testing and training (FAQ and customer experience page, checked 27 September 2026). AvidXchange recommends that customers be live on their accounting system first, and it enrolls suppliers itself. Embedded AP as a Service in Acumatica and AppFolio uses digital onboarding that the vendor says starts payments in minutes.
The About page reports 8,000+ businesses, 79.6 million transactions in 2025 and 1.5 million suppliers paid, and users and approvers are unlimited (checked 27 September 2026). The ceiling is geographic: current payment pages list US methods only and none describes multi-currency support, although a November 2022 release launched cross-border payments for NetSuite in six currencies, while multi-entity use appears only in passing in a June 2026 ParishSOFT release. Corpay's 10-Q describes the customer base as lower middle market.
Customers get a dedicated onboarding team, customer care by chat, ticket and phone, CPE-bearing training in AvidXchange Academy, and 250+ supplier services specialists for their vendors (FAQ and supplier pages, checked 27 September 2026). Capterra rates customer service 4.1 of 5 from 187 reviews, while Trustpilot shows 3.6 of 5 from 72 reviews, with low scores that include suppliers citing payment delays and fees (reported). No paid support tiers or response-time commitments are published.
In-product AI covers capture (99.2 percent accuracy from an internal Q1 2024 audit, vendor-claimed, with human indexers behind it), an AI Approval Agent and an AI PO Matching Agent launched 2 April 2025. Externally, customers get nothing: APIs serve ERP partners, the ReadMe docs hub is login-gated and its MCP endpoint returned 401 on 27 September 2026. The official MCP registry lists no AvidXchange server.
There is no pricing page (avidxchange.com/pricing returned 404 on 27 September 2026). The 2024 10-K discloses the model: per-invoice and per-payment fees plus SaaS and implementation fees, multi-year terms and frequent minimum transaction commitments. Supplier ACH fees are set in private agreements, and Vendr's public benchmark rests on 6 purchases by 3 buyers.

You are buying a service as much as software. AvidXchange receives invoices by PO box and email, reads them with AI, has human indexers check fields when needed, routes approvals that mirror your current rules and pays suppliers through its AvidPay Network of 1.5 million suppliers. Its 240 listed integrations reach vertical systems such as Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, Rent Manager, CINC, Vantaca and Sage 300 CRE. That vertical coverage, plus a supplier team that enrolls and supports your vendors, is the reason to shortlist it.
The catch is where the money comes from. In 2024, 71 percent of revenue came from payments: interchange on virtual cards, per-payment fees charged to your suppliers for AvidPay Direct ACH, and interest on funds held for customers (10-K filed 28 February 2025). Suppliers who pick ACH pay a fee that a June 2025 supplier deck posted by a customer says starts from 1.2 percent plus $1.00, capped at $300 a payment (reported); AvidXchange publishes no rate. No buyer price is published, AvidXchange describes its payments as domestic in focus (July 2026), and customers get no public API. Since October 2025 the company is private, and Corpay holds a right to buy the rest of it from mid-2028.
Before signing, get these in writing: the per-invoice and per-payment rates, any minimum transaction commitment and the implementation fee; the AvidPay Direct fee your suppliers will see and whether you can sponsor it; which product line you are buying (AvidInvoice, AvidStrongroom, TimberScan or AvidAscend) and whether 3-way matching works on your ERP; the data export format and cost at exit; and assignment terms if ownership changes.
Jobs, mapped to how finance teams actually buy.
AvidXchange enrolls suppliers, stores their payment preference and answers their calls through 250+ supplier services specialists. Suppliers receive virtual Mastercard within one business day of approval, AvidPay Direct ACH within three, or a mailed check, per the supplier page checked 27 September 2026.
Workflows are built to mirror current approval rules, with permissions and approvals by property or unit. Integrations cover Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, Rent Manager, RealPage, Entrata, ResMan, CINC and Vantaca, by API or file depending on the system.
TimberScan tracks partial and final, conditional and unconditional waivers, syncs waiver records with Sage 300 CRE, sends reminders and bulk-releases payments once signed waivers arrive. DocuSign handles signatures.
Invoices arrive at a PO box or email address AvidXchange sets up, get scanned and read by AI, and expert indexers review fields when needed. The portal shows whether each field came from AI or an indexer. The accuracy figure comes from AvidXchange's own QA audit.
Approved POs import into the invoice workflow and the AI PO Matching Agent pairs invoice and PO lines for review. Integration updates announced 5 February 2026 for Dynamics GP, NetSuite and Sage Intacct added PO, receipt and supplier data sync.
AP as a Service puts AvidXchange payments inside Acumatica, AppFolio, ParishSOFT, Ministry Brands, Centerbase and MRI, where users approve payments and track status without leaving the platform. AvidXchange runs supplier enrollment and payment delivery behind the scenes.

Here's what it really costs: published rates where a vendor lists them, aggregated quote data where they don't, plus a path to your own number.
Invoice, PO and payment automation (AvidInvoice, AvidBuy, AvidPay and vertical lines such as TimberScan) billed per invoice and per payment plus SaaS fees, per the 2024 10-K.
Each contract carries an upfront implementation fee, per the 2024 10-K; no amount is published.
Per-payment ACH fee charged to the supplier. A June 2025 deck posted by a customer says the fee starts from this rate, applies to the first $25,000 of a payment and must be confirmed with AvidXchange; AvidXchange publishes no rate.
Buyer-paid option listed for TimberScan so suppliers receive electronic payments at no cost to them.
Unlimited users and approvers for each solution, per the NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks and Microsoft integration pages.
No AvidXchange fee to the supplier, but the supplier's card processor charges merchant fees and AvidXchange earns interchange.
Supplier portal access is complimentary and STP carries no AvidXchange fee; the supplier's merchant processor may charge.
AvidXchange charges suppliers a per-transaction fee for AvidPay Direct, and its supplier terms (last updated 30 July 2024) let it change fees at its sole discretion. A June 2025 supplier deck posted by an HOA management customer says fees start from 1.2 percent plus $1.00 a payment, capped at $300, with the exact rate confirmed by AvidXchange (reported). Card acceptance costs suppliers their merchant fees. Trustpilot shows 3.6 of 5 from 72 reviews, with suppliers among those citing payment delays and fees (checked 27 September 2026), so expect some vendors to ask for checks.
TPG and Corpay took AvidXchange private on 15 October 2025 at $10.00 a share, using about $450 million of debt financing. Corpay's 10-Q filed 10 August 2026 says it holds about 35 percent and can call the remaining equity 33 months after closing at about 2.5 times invested capital. A multi-year contract signed now could run into that change of control. Ask for assignment, price-protection and data-exit terms that survive a sale.
No pricing page exists (404 on 27 September 2026). The 2024 10-K says buyer contracts are generally multi-year, often carry minimum transaction commitments and include an upfront implementation fee. Vendr's public benchmark covers only 6 purchases by 3 buyers. Model cost on your invoice and payment counts and ask what happens if volume falls below the minimum.
The supplier page lists three methods: virtual Mastercard, AvidPay Direct ACH and mailed check, and the NetSuite page describes embedded pay for US-based customers. An AvidXchange comparison page dated 29 July 2026 says its payments focus on domestic suppliers, and McGovern Consulting Group, an MIP partner that sells AvidPay, calls AvidPay domestic only on purpose in a September 2025 video. A November 2022 release announcing cross-border payments for NetSuite in six currencies is still on the AvidXchange site, but no current product page lists that option, so ask whether it is still sold. Companies with foreign suppliers should plan for a second payment rail.
The invoice product ships as AvidInvoice, AvidStrongroom, TimberScan, TimberScan Titanium or AvidAscend depending on the system, and the support page lists separate help routes for them. Features vary: the Microsoft page offers 3-way PO matching for Dynamics GP and file-based links for AX, NAV, F&O and SL. The public integration count also varies across pages (200+, 240 and 265, checked 27 September 2026). Confirm the product name, integration method and matching support for your exact ERP.
AvidXchange detected a cybersecurity incident in early April 2023. Its 10-K says data was exfiltrated from back-office systems and posted on the dark web, including employee personal data and the bank account information of some customers, and three state regulators made inquiries. The Trust Center lists 2025 SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 reports by Forvis Mazars and PCI DSS v4.0.1, while the ERP partner page still says SOC 2 Type I (both checked 27 September 2026). Request the reports, their coverage periods and the bridge letters during diligence.
Scored on what an outside agent can actually reach: the documented API, how it authenticates, and whether the vendor ships an MCP server.
Inside the product, AvidXchange runs an Invoice Capture Agent, an AI PO Matching Agent and an AI Approval Agent; the matching and approval agents were announced on 2 April 2025. The approval agent scores how likely an invoice is to be approved from past decisions, and the matching agent pairs invoice and PO lines; approvers keep the final say. AvidXchange claims 99.2 percent extraction accuracy from a Q1 2024 internal QA audit and says expert indexers review fields when needed, so people carry part of that number. It also claims one person can manage more than 10,000 invoices a month with 90 percent approval-ready without manual work. No independent audit of these figures was found.
The AI page, checked 27 September 2026, also lists natural-language questions in AvidXchange Analytics, generative AI that works supplier phone menus to deliver card payments, and an AI fraud platform that tunes its own rules. The press page promotes AI PO matching with a Request Access button, which suggests a staged rollout, so confirm availability for your ERP.
Outside the product, an agent surface exists only in a narrow sense. The developer hub at developer.avidxchange.com is a ReadMe documentation site split into AvidXchange Partners and AvidXchange Internal Docs, and both sit behind a login. Its /mcp endpoint answered an unauthenticated MCP initialize call with 401 Authorization required on 27 September 2026, so its tools could not be listed. BILL's MCP on the same ReadMe platform, probed the same day, identifies itself as an API documentation server; nothing suggests the AvidXchange endpoint reaches customer data. The official MCP registry returned no AvidXchange server, and the AvidXchange GitHub organization has no public repositories.
On scope, no customer-facing API was found. AvidXchange describes developer APIs and prebuilt UI components for ERP partners that embed AP as a Service, and Supergood, a third party, reported in July 2026 that API access requires a partnership agreement. Nothing is turnkey or admin-configured for a buyer today, since no setting lets a customer admin switch agent access on.
Who wins for whom: Property managers and HOA firms on Yardi, MRI or AppFolio that want approvals by property with 2 and 3-way matching: AvidXchange. Small US teams that want the W-9 Agent on every plan and 1099 e-filing to the IRS and 50 states: BILL. Approver-heavy teams that need line-level 2 and 3-way matching and a field-level audit trail: Stampli.
Mirrored approvals, 2 and 3-way match. AvidXchange builds workflows to mirror current approval rules, keeps audit trails in the portal, offers 2 and 3-way PO matching with supplier-level tolerances, and lists 2025 SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 reports.
Where it loses: For 1099s, public pages describe only a report of suppliers paid $600 or more, with no filing or W-9 tool, and its 10-K discloses an April 2023 breach exposing some customer bank data.

Approvals, W-9 Agent, 1099 e-file. Every BILL plan gets approval workflows and the W-9 Agent, the audit trail is time-stamped and cannot be altered, 1099s e-file to the IRS and 50 states, and SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II audits run annually.
Where it loses: Dual control is Enterprise only, ERP PO sync with 2 and 3-way matching sits on the quote-only Enterprise plan, and none of the pages reviewed mention e-invoicing mandates outside the US.

Line-level matching, logged approvals. Stampli matches invoices to POs and receipts 2 and 3-way at line level, logs every approval, message and field change with before and after values, and holds SOC 1, 2 and 3 plus PCI DSS.
Where it loses: 1099 filing stays in the ERP and Stampli publishes no e-invoicing support such as PEPPOL, so teams with EU entities or heavy 1099 volume need another tool for those steps.

Who wins for whom: US mid-market teams that want a vendor to enroll suppliers and pay them by card, ACH or check: AvidXchange. Small US teams that want each domestic per-payment fee posted before signing: BILL. Teams paying suppliers in 100+ countries with target FX rates: Stampli.
Enrolls suppliers, pays card, ACH, check. The AvidPay Network pays US suppliers by virtual Mastercard within one business day of approval, AvidPay Direct ACH within three, or mailed check, while AvidXchange runs supplier enrollment and calls and buyers can earn rebates.
Where it loses: Payments are domestic in focus with no wire method listed, and suppliers pay AvidPay Direct fees, reported from 1.2 percent plus $1.00 and capped at $300.

Posted per-payment fee table. BILL publishes ACH at $0.59, check at $1.99, free virtual card, card-funded payments at 2.9 percent and instant payments at 1 percent, runs processing in-house with Positive Pay on checks, and pays vendors in 130+ countries.
Where it loses: The FX margin on free local-currency wires is not disclosed, no payer rebate on virtual card payments is published, and API payments need an SMS-verified session.

Direct Pay from your own account. Direct Pay sends ACH, check, virtual card and international payments to 100+ countries with target FX rates from the customer's own account, behind a separate payment approval, and virtual cards earn up to 1 percent cashback.
Where it loses: Direct Pay fees sit in an order form with no published FX markup, Stampli can raise them on 14 days notice, and international wires take 4 to 5 business days.

A payment integration built with Invisors, a Workday partner, lets Workday Financial Management users initiate, approve and track supplier payments in Workday. AvidXchange notes it is not an official Workday partner.
Following its January 2026 selection as Acumatica's payments partner, AvidXchange launched embedded payments for Acumatica's more than 10,000 customers, with payment status visible in the ERP.
AP as a Service became available in the AppFolio Stack Marketplace, letting property managers enroll and pay suppliers inside AppFolio.
Updates sync PO, receipt and supplier data between these ERPs and AvidXchange and use OCR and AI to match PO and invoice lines, the vendor says.
AvidXchange formally announced AP as a Service, which embeds its invoice and payment workflows inside partner ERPs through APIs and prebuilt UI components. It named M3 and CINC Systems as existing hosts.
TPG and Corpay closed their acquisition of AvidXchange at $10.00 a share, valuing it at about $2.2 billion, and the stock left Nasdaq. Corpay later reported holding about 35 percent.
No list price exists. AvidXchange bills buyers per invoice and per payment processed plus recurring SaaS or maintenance fees, usually on multi-year contracts with an upfront implementation fee, according to its 2024 10-K. Users and approvers are unlimited.
Public benchmarks are thin. Vendr shows a median of $5,976 a year from 6 purchases by 3 buyers, checked 27 September 2026, and an Audit Friendly estimate from the 10-K puts 2024 software revenue at about $14,000 per buyer. Suppliers pay separately for AvidPay Direct ACH; a June 2025 deck posted by a customer says that fee starts from 1.2 percent plus $1.00 a payment, capped at $300 (reported).
The 10-K describes multi-year buyer contracts that often include minimum transaction commitments. Buyers have no obligation to renew after the initial term, and some contracts allow early termination. Get the term, renewal notice and any auto-renewal in writing, since no customer agreement is published.
On exit, AvidXchange's FAQ says it can provide read-only portal access on request and all captured invoice data before cancellation, on USB drive or CD, and invoices already integrated stay in your ERP. It keeps invoices accessible for up to seven years, and users can export invoice history to Excel or PDF. Put the export format and any fee in the contract.
AvidXchange says as little as 45 days, or six weeks for community association managers, with a project team of two or three people running kickoff, scoping, configuration, testing and training. It recommends being live on your accounting system before implementation starts.
Your side supplies approval rules, coding and ERP access, and AvidXchange's supplier team contacts your vendors to enroll them. Embedded versions inside Acumatica, AppFolio and similar platforms use digital onboarding and, per the vendor, can start payments within minutes.
Not today. AvidXchange offers customers no public API; its developer APIs serve ERP partners embedding AP as a Service. The docs hub at developer.avidxchange.com is login-gated, and its MCP endpoint returned 401 Authorization required on 27 September 2026. The official MCP registry lists no AvidXchange server.
An agent can work downstream. AvidXchange syncs approved invoices, images and payment status into ERPs such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct and QuickBooks, so Claude can analyze that ERP data or portal report exports. Inside the product, the AI agents surface recommendations and matches, and people make the final approval, per the AI page.
