Payhawk is a London-based spend platform that runs corporate cards, expenses, accounts payable, procurement and travel on its own UK and EEA e-money licences, built for multi-entity mid-market finance teams in Europe, with a narrower card-linking product in the US.
Independently scored, one dimension at a time. Every dimension is sourced, and we say whether a claim is published, reported, or estimated.
Native connectors cover NetSuite (SuiteApp, custom segments, real-time bidirectional sync), Sage Intacct (dimensions, amortisation), Business Central (AppSource extension, projects) and SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, plus Xero, QuickBooks Online, DATEV and Exact (integration pages, checked 27 September 2026). Expenses export on review and payments on settlement. The catch: NetSuite, Business Central, Sage Intacct and SAP are paid add-ons.
Payhawk hosts a first-party MCP server at mcp.payhawk.com with 82 read and write tools, per its tool reference (updated 15 September 2026); writes such as approvals, recoding and card freezes preview first and never move money. It is in beta and not yet in the Claude or ChatGPT directories. In-product Financial Controller, Procurement, Travel and Payments agents shipped in early access on 16 September 2025; outcome figures are vendor-claimed.
Segregation of duties holds five sensitive actions, including supplier bank detail changes, until an independent approver signs off (help center, checked 27 September 2026). Procurement adds 2-way and 3-way matching with goods received notes, and AP connects to Peppol, PPF, SdI, KSeF and Finvoice e-invoicing networks. The payments page lists SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 1. It loses points in the US: Payhawk states it does not issue 1099 forms.
Payhawk is an e-money institution in the UK and EEA and a Visa Principal Member; it offers IBANs in six currencies, 0.3 percent FX on bill payments in 10 major currencies, and free SEPA Instant, Faster Payments and ACH (pricing and payments pages, checked 27 September 2026). The only cashback rate is an undated footnote on a March 2022 funding post (page last updated 18 September 2026) that puts it at 1.5 percent up to the subscription amount; no pricing page states a current rate. US bank payments run by ACH only, and US card FX is 2.99 percent.
A group dashboard consolidates master data, teams, workflows and analytics across entities, and a customer quoted on the Fall '26 page runs 28 entities. Cards issue in seven currencies, IBANs in six, and payments reach 115+ currencies in 150 countries (payments page, checked 27 September 2026). Payhawk's newsroom cites 5,000+ customers in 32+ countries, while its agent pages say 6,000+ in 33+ (vendor-reported). The US footprint is narrower: ACH only for bank payments and USD credit cards.
Payhawk charges no implementation fee and includes professional sessions scaled to modules and size (pricing FAQ, checked 27 September 2026). Its then Director of Implementation put technical activation at 15 to 20 days in a May 2024 post, longer for complex groups. The Implementation Agent (beta) configures Xero, DATEV, QuickBooks Online and Exact Online setups; NetSuite, Sage, Oracle and Dynamics still route to an Implementation Manager.
The pricing page lists multilingual human support by live chat and email in every plan; the site footer gives a support email and a sales phone line, with no support phone number. Capterra shows 4.7 of 5 for customer service across 177 ratings (reported, checked 27 September 2026). Payhawk says 76 percent of support requests are fully resolved by AI (vendor-claimed, 8 July 2026).
The US page publishes starting prices of $299 to $499 a month per module, and card fee schedules are public per currency (checked 27 September 2026). The Europe page lists no module prices, only a 149 pound a month Growth program for small single-entity firms. Units, add-ons and the Payhawk Complete bundle are quote only, and no public benchmark (Vendr) shows a contract figure.

You are buying a European spend platform that runs on its own regulated money stack. Payhawk holds e-money licences in the UK and the EEA, issues Visa debit cards in seven currencies and credit cards in three, and gives each entity IBANs in six. Cards, reimbursements, supplier bills, purchase orders and travel run through one approval engine, with native sync to NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Business Central and SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud. It fits a group that closes many European entities on one ERP.
The catch sits at the Atlantic and on the price sheet. In the US, Payhawk pays bills only by ACH from bank accounts you link, its own cards are USD credit cards issued by Cross River Bank with a 2.99 percent FX fee, and it does not issue 1099s. In Europe the pricing page shows no module prices beyond a 149 pound a month starter program, and the big-ERP connectors, extra entities and budgets are paid add-ons. The MCP server is real and it writes data, but it is a beta that you add by hand.
Get these in writing before you sign: the base price per module and what counts as a billable unit (cards, invoices, reimbursements, purchase orders) with the overage rate; which ERP connector and how many entities sit in the base; the current cashback rate and its cap; the renewal uplift cap on a multi-year term; how many implementation sessions are included; and whether the MCP tool that edits spend policies is switched on for your roles.
Jobs, mapped to how finance teams actually buy.
A group dashboard holds shared master data, teams and workflows while each entity keeps its own IBANs and cards. A customer quoted on the Fall '26 page runs 28 entities on it. Adding an entity is a quoted add-on, so price the group structure up front.
The Accounts Payable module receives structured e-invoices, routes them through the approval designer and pays suppliers from the same account. The Summer '26 Edition (11 June 2026) added unified invoice capture ahead of EU e-invoicing mandates. Check which country networks your entities need before you sign.
Agent Fetch logs into connected supplier portals such as Uber or cloud vendors, pulls the invoice, codes it and matches it to the card payment. Payhawk made it available to all customers in July 2026 and says 550+ businesses used the beta. The rest still fall back to receipt reminders.
Staff sign in with their own Payhawk login and can list blockers, approve requests, recode expenses or freeze a card, with a preview before every change. It cannot pay or transfer money. The connector is added by URL until it is listed in the app directories.
Payhawk Link and Control syncs transactions from cards you already hold so finance keeps its issuer and rewards while adding receipts, approvals and ERP export. US firms can also apply for Payhawk USD credit cards. US bank payments run by ACH from linked external accounts.
Bill payments carry a 0.3 percent FX markup on 10 major currencies, and transfers between your own currency accounts cost 0.3 percent over mid-market. Changes to supplier bank details can require a second approver under segregation of duties.
Forget the 40-row feature grid. Pick a finance workflow and see how this tool and its closest peers actually do it, with our verdict on who wins for whom.
Here's what it really costs: published rates where a vendor lists them, aggregated quote data where they don't, plus a path to your own number.
Global flight and hotel booking, travel policy, trip approvals, AI Travel Agent and automated expense reports; US starting price.
Bill management, approval workflow designer, vendor verification, scheduled and bulk payments, OCR and line-item splitting; US starting price.
Link any credit card program or use optional Payhawk Visa credit cards; real-time expenses, receipt chasing and reimbursements; US starting price.
Purchase orders, purchase intake, 2-way and 3-way matching and discrepancy approval workflows; US starting price.
All four modules plus the AI Office of the CFO agents (Financial Controller, Travel, Procurement, Payments); no price shown in either region.
Same four modules; the Europe page lists no prices and quotes a base per module plus unit-based cards, reimbursements, POs and invoices.
New UK or EEA customers, one entity, up to 24 months: 10 debit cards, 10 seats, 15 invoices and 15 reimbursements a month; accounting sync included, no POs, ERP or HR integrations, credit cards or cashback.
Adds up to 10 employee seats or extra admin and accountant seats; total capped at 20 seats, then a regular plan is required.
Bidirectional NetSuite, Business Central, Microsoft Finance and Sage Intacct sync; SAP S/4HANA listed on the Europe page.
Adds entities to the multi-entity group for consolidated spend and month-end close.
Real-time budget tracking against forecasts; HRIS connectors for Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, UKG, ADP and others.
Charged on card transactions in a currency different from the card currency, per the published fee schedules.
Payhawk's US help center says US companies pay bills and reimbursements from linked external bank accounts over ACH, and that US cards are credit only in USD (checked 27 September 2026). The US card fee schedule, last modified 31 January 2025, sets a 2.99 percent FX rate, against 1.99 percent on EUR and GBP cards. Payhawk states it does not issue 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms for customers. A US buyer paying by check or wire, or wanting 1099 filing, needs another tool.
The Europe pricing page (checked 27 September 2026) says each module base includes a fixed number of admin seats and cards, and that extra cards, reimbursements, purchase orders and invoices are unit-based. Contracts are typically annual or multi-year. Ask for the unit rates, the overage price and a cap on renewal uplift, since none is published.
Both pricing pages list native bidirectional ERP integrations as an add-on, while Xero, QuickBooks Online and Exact Online are included (checked 27 September 2026). The Implementation Agent, launched in beta on 15 September 2026, only configures Xero, DATEV, QuickBooks Online and Exact Online; NetSuite, Sage, Oracle and Dynamics setups still go through an Implementation Manager. Budget the connector and the entities before comparing quotes.
Payhawk's help center says the MCP must be added manually with https://mcp.payhawk.com/mcp, supplied by your Payhawk contact during the beta; on Claude Team or Enterprise only a Claude Owner can add it, and ChatGPT needs Developer Mode and the desktop app (checked 27 September 2026). The MCP page says it cannot change spend policies, yet the tool reference lists manage_spend_policy and a help center playbook for reviewing card and spend control fit says it can change the spend policy itself. Ask Payhawk which write tools your roles will see before rollout.
The Europe pricing FAQ says the 149 pound Growth program is for firms with fewer than 20 employees, while the Growth page lists 'more than 10 employees' as a criterion and its FAQ sends firms larger than 10 employees to regular plans (checked 27 September 2026). Payhawk's UK services exclude micro-enterprises under the FCA Consumer Duty. Get eligibility and the post-24-month price in writing.
A footnote on Payhawk's March 2022 funding post (page last updated 18 September 2026, footnote undated) says cashback was cut from 3 percent to 1.5 percent and applies up to the full subscription amount; no current rate appears on the pricing pages (checked 27 September 2026). The Growth program excludes cashback. Treat cashback as a partial subscription offset and confirm the rate, cap and eligible card types in the order form.
Scored on what an outside agent can actually reach: the documented API, how it authenticates, and whether the vendor ships an MCP server.
In the product, Payhawk runs four agents that entered early access on 16 September 2025: Financial Controller (chases receipts, codes expenses, fetches invoices), Procurement, Travel and Payments. An Implementation Agent followed in beta with the Fall '26 Edition on 15 September 2026. Payhawk says Agent Fetch, which logs into supplier portals to collect invoices, was activated by 550+ businesses in beta and retrieved invoices in 68.6 percent of attempts after login (22 July 2026). These are vendor claims with no independent confirmation.
Exists: yes. Payhawk hosts a first-party MCP server at https://mcp.payhawk.com/mcp, published in its help center, with OAuth sign-in and dynamic client registration (endpoint metadata observed 27 September 2026). Help articles first appeared on 21 July 2026 and the public launch came with the Fall '26 Edition on 15 September 2026; the MCP page calls it a beta. The official MCP registry returned no Payhawk entry, and the only GitHub project named for it is a community build (thuantran-oss/payhawk-mcp, three read-only reimbursement tools).
Scope: 82 tools, per the tool reference updated 15 September 2026, filtered to each user's role and account setup. Read tools cover expenses and documents, cards, fund accounts and balances, approvals, audit logs, suppliers, purchase orders, exports, budgets, users, teams and policies. Write tools include approve_or_return, recode_expense, create_expense, submit_expense, update_card_status (freeze, unfreeze, close), create_card_request, manage_purchase_order, manage_supplier, run_export and manage_spend_policy; Payhawk says every write shows a preview and waits for confirmation, and that the MCP never starts a payment or transfer, with travel bookings sent to the normal approval workflow. Payhawk's MCP page says it cannot change spend policies, users or account configuration, but the tool reference lists manage_spend_policy and a help center playbook for reviewing card and spend control fit says it can change the spend policy itself, so treat policy edits as possible and confirm which roles can make them.
Turnkey or admin-configured: each user signs in with a Payhawk login and inherits that role's permissions, and the tools shown are filtered to the role and account setup. No Payhawk admin switch is documented, but during the beta Payhawk says your Payhawk contact provides the connection link, so confirm your account is enabled. The server is not yet in the Claude or ChatGPT directories, so the URL is added by hand: on Claude Team or Enterprise only a Claude Owner can add it, and ChatGPT needs Developer Mode and runs it in the desktop app only. The separate REST API v3 has 175 operations, is free on every account, allows 15 requests a second and supports webhooks. Its Swagger portal is a spec viewer with no execute-request MCP, and the spec names no server URL; the API page gives https://api.payhawk.io/api/v3.

Payhawk opened a beta MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT that reads and acts on live data, plus ready-made finance Playbooks. A new Implementation Agent configures accounts, starting with Xero, DATEV, QuickBooks Online and Exact Online.
The Financial Controller Agent can now log into supplier portals, pull invoices and match them to payments. Payhawk says 550+ businesses used the beta and 68.6 percent of attempts succeeded after login (vendor-claimed).
Payhawk said it crossed $100M ARR, with net new business up 159 percent year on year and payments volume up 95 percent (vendor-reported).
The release added a native SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud integration, role-based field visibility, EU-wide e-invoicing and CHF, DKK and PLN support.
Bloomberg reported early talks to raise more than $100M at roughly double the 2022 valuation; Payhawk declined to comment (reported via PYMNTS). No closed round found by 27 September 2026.
Financial Controller, Procurement, Travel and Payments agents launched in early access, alongside global payments at 0.3 percent FX in 115 currencies with J.P. Morgan Payments.
In the US, the pricing page lists starting prices per module: Travel $299 a month, Accounts Payable $349, Cards and Expenses $449 and Procurement $499 (published, checked 27 September 2026). The Payhawk Complete bundle and all add-ons are quote only.
In the UK and EEA, mid-market pricing is quote only: a base per module, unit charges for extra cards, reimbursements, purchase orders and invoices, and add-ons such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct sync and extra entities. Payhawk's 2024 results put average annualised revenue per account at 25,900 euros, a blended average across its customer base that works only as a rough anchor. No public Vendr or SpendHound benchmark shows a contract figure.
Payhawk says it typically signs annual or multi-year agreements and charges no setup fee (Europe pricing FAQ, checked 27 September 2026). Ask for the renewal uplift cap, the notice period and the terms for closing IBANs and returning safeguarded funds.
Data leaves through unlimited custom accounting exports, the native ERP syncs and the REST API v3, which is free on all accounts, returns up to 1,000 items per request and allows 15 requests a second. Expense files, payments, export history, suppliers and purchase orders are all exposed in the API spec.
Payhawk's then Director of Implementation said in a May 2024 post that technical activation takes 15 to 20 days and 2 to 3 customer calls, longer for complex groups. KYC for each entity comes first, and Payhawk's own compliance team runs it.
A Payhawk Implementation Manager runs the technical kick-off, integration, workflows and card setup, with sessions included at no fee. The Implementation Agent (beta since 15 September 2026) configures Xero, DATEV, QuickBooks Online and Exact Online setups itself; NetSuite and SAP connections need your ERP admin.
Yes, in beta. Payhawk hosts a first-party MCP server at https://mcp.payhawk.com/mcp that works with Claude, ChatGPT and Codex. Each user signs in with a Payhawk login, and its 82 tools read expenses, cards, balances, suppliers and purchase orders and can approve, recode, submit, freeze cards and manage purchase orders after a preview (help center, checked 27 September 2026).
It never starts a payment or transfer and cannot issue a new card. It is not yet listed in the Claude or ChatGPT directories, so a Claude Owner must add the URL on Team or Enterprise plans. Custom agents can also use the REST API v3 with an account API key.
