Tradeshift is a cloud e-invoicing network and AP automation platform that validates and matches supplier invoices and handles e-invoicing compliance in 69 or 70 countries (its pages differ), built for multinational enterprises facing e-invoicing mandates such as France's and Poland's.
Independently scored, one dimension at a time. Every dimension is sourced, and we say whether a claim is published, reported, or estimated.
Tradeshift's homepage and compliance page claim out-of-the-box compliance in 70 countries, while the compliance page title and FAQ say 69 (checked 27 September 2026); coverage includes China's cross-zone fapiao, with permanent PA registration in France since January 2026 and a Peppol access point since 2014. Its AP page lists ISO 27001, SOC 1 Type 2, SOC 2 Type 2 and ISAE 3402, and the security page adds PCI DSS Level 1. The Business Firewall validates inbound invoices before they arrive, with duplicate-number checks and two- and three-way matching. It loses points for inconsistent country and clearance counts (69 or 70, 12 or 20), partner-run flows in some countries (Avalara, ClearTax, Kingxunlian) and no 1099 or W-9 handling.
Tradeshift says its network holds more than a million business users in 190 countries and has processed over $1.7 trillion (vendor, May 2026). Customer stories cite one customer at 6 million invoices a year and DHL live in 15 European countries. The platform runs in 26 languages, hosted on AWS with Ireland as the listed processing location. Vendor scale is the weak point: the UK subsidiary reported revenue of 13.7 million pounds for the year to 31 January 2025.
In-product AI covers Ada auto-coding, AI document extraction, confidence-threshold auto-dispatch (September 2026) and a Premium AP Auditor chat agent (June 2026). A first-party MCP server with 95 tools has run in production since early 2026 per Tradeshift, but it is reached through Amazon Quick in the Premium analytics app, needs Author Pro and Reader Pro licences, and production write access is still listed as a roadmap item (AWS post, 20 July 2026). The public REST API is broad, with 137 documented paths and a sandbox.
Tradeshift's AP page names standard connectors for SAP ECC 6.0, SAP S/4HANA, Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Fusion, and its Babelway middleware reports 3,000+ active connections over SFTP, AS2 and email. A 2024 blog says it connects with NetSuite, but no connector documentation was found. Its knowledge base (updated 2022) lists paid third-party connectors for SAP, e-conomic, Twinfield and MailEDI, and none is named for QuickBooks Online, Xero or Sage Intacct.
Tradeshift's support policy routes buyers through a webform, primarily in English: urgent incidents are covered 24/7 with a 3-hour response target, and other tickets run 9 AM to 5 PM on local business days, with incident responses in 6 to 24 working hours. The response targets apply to buyer incidents; seller incidents get reasonable efforts, and non-paying sellers are deprioritized. Change requests are billed and need a purchase order. Capterra shows 4.0 of 5 from only 3 reviews; G2 and Gartner blocked access (27 September 2026).
Tradeshift Professional Services scopes each project in a signed statement of work and runs planning, design, build, test, training, launch and hypercare; it publishes no standard timeline. Tradeshift says most global customers need extensive customisation. Its fastest cited go-live is a France-only PA connection in 24 days (vendor, August 2026), and a sandbox is used for UAT sign-off.
Buyer pricing is quote only: tradeshift.com/pricing returns 404, and Vendr, SpendHound and the UK G-Cloud marketplace have no Tradeshift listing (checked 27 September 2026). Seller fees are fully published per invoice by quarterly tier, as are a $149 quarterly integration maintenance fee and the standard agreement's CPI uplift from year three. Analytics seat and Premium package prices are not published.
Tradeshift moves no AP money: approved invoices post to the ERP, and payment status comes back from it (AP product page). Tradeshift Go issues pre-approved virtual cards but only on US American Express commercial card programs, at no cost. Tradeshift Cash offered suppliers HSBC-funded advances of up to 90 percent within 24 hours; how it continues after the July 2026 SemFi exit is not stated.
Written by the Audit Friendly research team. No vendor edits, no sponsored placement.
You are buying a compliance and invoice-receipt layer that sits between your suppliers and your ERP. Tradeshift takes in e-invoices, PDFs and scans, checks them against country rules and your own Business Firewall rules, matches them to POs and receipts, routes approvals and posts approved invoices to the ERP. Its own pages put e-invoicing compliance coverage at 70 countries in some places and 69 in others (checked 27 September 2026); it gained permanent PA registration in France in January 2026, and it has run a Peppol access point since 2014. Tradeshift says more than 30 Tradeshift and Babelway clients went live on France's mandate on 1 September 2026.
The catch is the vendor and the money flow. Accounts for Tradeshift's UK subsidiary, filed 29 April 2026, describe recurring losses, a 2025 restructuring with headcount cuts, and parent convertible notes whose covenant breaches were waived and whose maturity moved to 30 November 2026, when they convert into preferred shares unless an unwaived breach occurs. A SemFi shareholder resolution circulated 20 July 2026 and signed by both shareholders on 21 July 2026 approved cancelling Tradeshift's stake in its venture with HSBC, and SemFi's 10 September 2026 confirmation statement shows Tradeshift holding no shares. It moves no AP money, buyer pricing is quote only with no public benchmark, and suppliers pay per invoice once they pass 30 a quarter.
Before signing, get in writing: the buyer subscription price and a cap on CPI uplift (the standard SaaS agreement allows annual CPI increases from year three), which of your suppliers will pay seller fees and whether suppliers who email PDFs count, the countries and clearance flows in scope and any partner that runs them, and a data-exit window longer than the standard 30 days. Ask for the parent company's financing position after the notes mature on 30 November 2026 and for exit assistance terms if it changes.
Jobs, mapped to how finance teams actually buy.
Tradeshift holds French PA registration number 0036, made permanent in January 2026, and says a KPMG audit precedes final certified status. On the inbound side it validates and returns lifecycle statuses to the tax portal; outbound it checks routing against the government directory. Tradeshift cites one France-only go-live in 24 days.
The same platform handles Poland's KSeF flow, with cleared invoices reconciled in ScanIO, plus Germany's EN 16931 formats, Malaysia's MyInvois and cross-zone fapiao in China. Tradeshift's pages disagree on the country count (69 or 70) and the clearance count (12 or 20), and some countries run through partners such as Avalara, ClearTax and Kingxunlian. Confirm each country and partner in writing.
The Business Firewall rejects inbound documents that miss required fields or fail value checks, such as a PO number format or a valid location ID, so the supplier fixes and resends them. Rules can be set per branch, document type and supplier group. Duplicate invoice numbers, dates and currencies are checked as standard.
Suppliers can start by emailing a PDF to a buyer-specific address, and Tradeshift's onboarding team handles the rest; EDI, PO-flip, web upload and SFTP or AS2 through Babelway are also supported. Suppliers see invoice status on the network. The catch: suppliers above 30 invoices a quarter pay per invoice.
The Reporting & Analytics app, built on Amazon Quick and launched 17 June 2025, gives buyers ready-made dashboards and natural-language queries. The Premium tier adds custom dashboards and the AP Auditor agent, which reads your policies and flags anomalies. Tradeshift and AWS describe the 30x figure in a 20 July 2026 post.
Forget the 40-row feature grid. Pick a finance workflow and see how this tool and its closest peers actually do it, with our verdict on who wins for whom.
Here's what it really costs: published rates where a vendor lists them, aggregated quote data where they don't, plus a path to your own number.
No buyer price is published; fees are set in an Order under the SaaS Subscription Agreement, with CPI uplift from year three unless the Order says otherwise.
Paid by the supplier for 31 to 300 invoices and credit notes a quarter, billed quarterly in arrears.
Paid by the supplier for 301 to 3,000 invoices and credit notes a quarter.
Paid by the supplier for 3,001 to 15,000 invoices and credit notes a quarter.
Custom pricing for sellers sending more than 15,001 invoices and credit notes a quarter.
Tradeshift maintains a seller's existing ERP integration and future updates.
Sold in sets of 10 through a support ticket.
5 Author and 20 Viewer licences plus a private data lake; custom dashboards and agentic AI, including the AP Auditor agent.
Implementation under a statement of work; post-live change requests are billed and need a purchase order.
No charge for sellers sending 30 or fewer invoices and credit notes in a quarter; the first 30 are free in every tier.
One Reader licence per master buyer account, first come first served; standard dashboards and Q natural-language queries.
No cost to enroll or use; requires a US American Express business, corporate or purchasing card program.
Accounts for Tradeshift Network Ltd for the year to 31 January 2025, signed 23 April 2026 and filed 29 April 2026, say the group has had recurring losses and negative operating cash flow and relied on outside funding. The parent restructured from February 2025 to September 2025, including headcount cuts, and amended its convertible notes: maturity moved to 30 November 2026, past covenant breaches were waived and the minimum cash covenant fell to $7 million. At maturity the notes convert into preferred shares unless an unwaived covenant breach occurs, in which case they could become due. The same filing says the parent had positive cash flow by 31 January 2026, and the auditor found no material going-concern uncertainty.
Tradeshift's seller pricing, rolled out from November 2025, charges suppliers per invoice and credit note above 30 a quarter, billed quarterly in arrears (checked 27 September 2026). Tradeshift says it reduced the free tier to 30 invoices a quarter, citing cost inflation and clearance and compliance complexity, and sellers moving from the free tier into a charging tier were first billed for October to December 2025. Sellers who do not pay get reduced access, limited network visibility and lower support priority. Ask which of your suppliers will pay, and whether suppliers who only email PDFs are counted.
A SemFi shareholder written resolution circulated 20 July 2026 and signed by both shareholders on 21 July 2026 approved cancelling Tradeshift Holdings' 250 shares and returning about $8.38 million of capital in kind, through an assignment of intellectual property to Tradeshift (Companies House). SemFi's statement of capital filed 17 August 2026 shows 750 shares, and its 10 September 2026 confirmation statement shows HSBC Investment Company holding all 750 and Tradeshift holding none. Tradeshift's homepage still showed the SemFi joint venture on 27 September 2026, and its Tradeshift Cash page says HSBC funds supplier advances. Ask whether supplier financing continues and on what terms.
Tradeshift's 95-tool MCP server is reached through Amazon Quick agents in the Premium Reporting & Analytics app, and the Fall 2026 release notes say agentic features need Analytics Author Pro and Reader Pro licences and configuration. Production write access is listed as a roadmap item in Tradeshift's 20 July 2026 AWS post. A live endpoint at mcp.tradeshift.com/mcp accepts only OAuth client credentials that Tradeshift issues, and no public authentication guide or registry listing was found on 27 September 2026. Budget for Premium licences and confirm in writing which tools an outside agent may call.
Tradeshift's SaaS Subscription Agreement (February 2023) raises annual subscription fees by CPI from the third year unless the Order says otherwise, and makes fees non-cancelable. After termination, users get 30 days to retrieve data before the account is closed, and Tradeshift deletes customer data within the later of 90 days of a request or when it no longer has a lawful basis to keep it. The platform stores documents for 10 years by default, but legal archiving runs through partners. Negotiate a CPI cap and a longer exit window.
Tradeshift's support policy provides webform tickets, primarily in English (checked 27 September 2026). Urgent incidents are covered 24/7 with a 3-hour response target; all other tickets are handled from 9 AM to 5 PM on business days in the customer's time zone, with incident responses in 6 to 24 working hours, and a response only means Tradeshift has acknowledged the ticket and started troubleshooting. The response targets apply to buyer incidents only. Configuration changes go through a Service Book, and change requests are billed with a purchase order. Its availability SLA pays service credits below 99.5 percent a month.
Scored on what an outside agent can actually reach: the documented API, how it authenticates, and whether the vendor ships an MCP server.
Inside the product, Ada auto-codes non-PO invoices from past coding, AI Document Intelligence turns PDF invoices into structured UBL, and a confidence threshold added in September 2026 lets high-confidence invoices dispatch untouched. The AP Expert Auditor Agent, launched in June 2026 in the Premium tier of the Reporting & Analytics app, answers questions over live AP data and, according to Tradeshift, can flag invoices, place holds and escalate supplier bank-detail changes within the user's permissions. Tradeshift and AWS say the analytics rebuild made queries up to 30 times faster and cut total cost of ownership by 40 percent; both figures are vendor-claimed. The Fall 2026 release notes say agentic features need Analytics Author Pro and Reader Pro licences.
Exists: yes, first-party. Tradeshift's 22 May 2026 post describes an in-house Tradeshift MCP Server with 95 tools across six domains, covering core services, the supplier network, documents, company data, the Business Firewall and its Ada and AskAda AI layers. It runs on AWS in Ireland with stdio and HTTP/SSE transports and went live in production earlier in 2026. The 24 September 2026 release says the 95 tools let customers point their own agents at their own data. AF found no Tradeshift entry in the official MCP registry and no MCP repository among Tradeshift's 59 public GitHub repositories (checked 27 September 2026).
Scope: read in production, with writes in transition. The May 2026 post and a 20 July 2026 AWS post co-written by Tradeshift both list write access on the production MCP server as a next step, while the 28 August 2026 AP Auditor post says the agent can already take actions through 68 action tools. Every call inherits the requesting user's role-based permissions and is logged. Outside MCP, the public REST API on api.tradeshift.com documents 137 paths and 171 operations over documents, state changes, dispatch, network connections, validations and task assignments, with a sandbox for development.
Turnkey: no. The documented route is Amazon Quick inside the Premium analytics app, and the Fall 2026 release notes list the AP agent as needing a premium Analytics namespace and configuration. A live endpoint at mcp.tradeshift.com/mcp answered on 27 September 2026 with an OAuth challenge whose published metadata allows only the client credentials grant, and its clients and API keys are created in a management console behind a Tradeshift Okta sign-in. AF found no public setup guide, registry listing or Claude connector, so connecting Claude or any other MCP client depends on Tradeshift issuing credentials.
Who wins for whom: Multinationals that want invoices missing required fields rejected at the Business Firewall before they reach AP: Tradeshift. Global shared service centers processing 50,000+ invoices a year under e-invoicing mandates in several countries: Basware. Coupa procurement customers that want Rossum capture validating invoices against Coupa POs: Coupa.
Business Firewall stops bad invoices. The Business Firewall rejects invoices missing required fields or failing value checks, flags duplicate numbers and runs two and three-way matching, and Tradeshift lists SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 and claims compliance in 69 or 70 countries.
Where it loses: Suppliers above 30 invoices a quarter pay $0.30 to $0.80 per invoice, Tradeshift's pages disagree on country and clearance counts, and there is no 1099 or W-9 handling.

Certified e-invoicing across 60+ mandates. Basware is an accredited French certified platform with customers live since July 2026, says it covers 60+ country e-invoicing mandates with Peppol and VAT-compliant archiving in Vault, and offers SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports under NDA.
Where it loses: No 1099 or W-9 handling appears on basware.com, which costs it points on US tax work, and setup and later changes are billed as Professional Services on top of the subscription.

Tolerance checks and e-invoice mandates. Coupa lists SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports, its Core API exposes approve, hold and reject actions and invoice tolerance failures, Rossum capture validates invoices against Coupa POs, and France's PA and PPF e-invoicing runs through Peppol.
Where it loses: Coupa ended legal invoice issuance for suppliers in Croatia and Greece in 2026, leaving them to attach their own XML e-invoices, and no public page on 1099 e-filing was found.

Who wins for whom: US enterprises on an American Express commercial card program that want pre-approved virtual cards at no cost, with the ERP paying the rest: Tradeshift. Enterprises whose ERP runs payments and that want payment dates written back to AP: Basware. Enterprises that want invoices paid by bank transfer, US digital check or virtual card from Coupa Pay: Coupa.
Posts to the ERP for payment. Tradeshift moves no AP money: approved invoices post to the ERP, which returns payment status, while Tradeshift Go issues pre-approved virtual cards at no cost on US American Express commercial card programs only.
Where it loses: There are no ACH, check or wire rails of its own, and how Tradeshift Cash's HSBC-funded supplier advances continue after the July 2026 SemFi exit is not stated.

Hands approved invoices to the ERP. Basware moves no money: approved invoices go to the ERP for payment, a PaymentResponses API writes the payment date back, and Trustpair bank-account checks await a deal signed 26 August 2026.
Where it loses: There are no ACH, check, virtual card or cross-border payout products, so rails, FX and card rebates need another tool, and Trustpair validates accounts without paying suppliers.

Coupa Pay: transfer, check, card. Coupa Pay sends invoice payments by bank transfer, US digital check or virtual card and pays POs by virtual card, and an April 2023 Goldman Sachs Transaction Banking tie-up cited payments in 124 currencies across 167 countries.
Where it loses: Payment fees, FX markups and card rebates are unpublished, and Coupa Card, powered by Brex on Mastercard, launched only in limited availability for US companies on 6 November 2025.

Tradeshift's Fall Release post recapped features launched from June to September 2026: the Premium AP Auditor chat agent (June), which acts through its MCP server, a business audit trail for AI extraction and PO reference auto-fill (July), and confidence-threshold auto-dispatch (September).
A SemFi shareholder written resolution, circulated 20 July 2026 and signed by both shareholders on 21 July 2026, approved cancelling Tradeshift Holdings' 250 shares and returning about $8.38 million in capital through an intellectual property assignment. SemFi's 10 September 2026 confirmation statement shows HSBC Investment Company holding all 750 shares.
Tradeshift said its in-house MCP server exposes 95 tools across six domains to Amazon Quick agents under each user's permissions, with production write access planned.
Tradeshift Network Ltd's accounts for the year to 31 January 2025 say the parent restructured in 2025 and amended convertible notes, moving maturity to 30 November 2026 and waiving past covenant breaches.
Tradeshift said it is permanently registered as a Plateforme Agreee for France's mandate, with final certified status to follow an external audit by KPMG.
Tradeshift cut the seller free tier to 30 invoices a quarter and set per-invoice charges of $0.80 to $0.30, rolled out from November 2025 and billed quarterly in arrears.
Tradeshift quotes every buyer and publishes no buyer price: its /pricing/ page returns 404, and Vendr, SpendHound and the UK G-Cloud marketplace have no Tradeshift listing (checked 27 September 2026). Audit Friendly found no reliable public benchmark, so ask for a quote that separates the platform subscription, each compliance country, analytics licences and implementation.
Part of the cost lands on suppliers. From November 2025, sellers pay nothing for their first 30 invoices a quarter, then $0.80, $0.60 or $0.30 per invoice depending on quarterly volume. Add Premium analytics licences if you want the AP Auditor agent, change-request fees after go-live, and a CPI uplift from year three under the standard agreement.
The term is set in each Order under Tradeshift's SaaS Subscription Agreement (February 2023). Fees are non-cancelable, invoices are due in 30 days, late payments carry 1.5 percent a month, and annual fees rise by CPI from year three unless the Order says otherwise. The availability SLA pays credits when uptime falls below 99.5 percent in a month.
At termination Tradeshift may deactivate accounts at once, then gives users 30 days to retrieve their data; it deletes customer data within the later of 90 days of a request or when it no longer has a lawful basis to keep it. The REST API can export documents and originals, and Tradeshift stores documents for 10 years by default, with legal archiving through partners. Negotiate a longer exit window before signing.
Tradeshift Professional Services scopes the project in a statement of work, then runs planning, solution design, build, test, training, launch and hypercare. Tradeshift publishes no standard timeline and says most global customers need extensive customisation. Its fastest cited case is a France-only PA connection live in 24 days (vendor, August 2026).
Your ERP team owns connectors or Babelway mappings and signs off changes in the sandbox before production. Tradeshift's supplier onboarding team enables suppliers, starting with first-invoice onboarding by email, and Tradeshift University provides training.
Partly. Tradeshift runs a first-party MCP server with 95 tools, described on 22 May 2026, but the documented route is Amazon Quick agents inside the Premium Reporting & Analytics app, and production write access is still a roadmap item per a 20 July 2026 AWS post. A live endpoint at mcp.tradeshift.com/mcp accepts only OAuth client credentials that Tradeshift issues, and AF found no public setup guide, registry listing or Claude connector on 27 September 2026.
The public REST API is the practical path today. With an OAuth app, an agent can search and read documents, change document state, dispatch documents, manage validations and handle task assignments; developers start in the sandbox. Payments stay in your ERP, so no agent can pay suppliers through Tradeshift.
