Volopay is a Singapore-founded spend platform that bundles prepaid corporate cards, bill pay, reimbursements, payroll payouts and multi-currency wallets for small teams in Singapore, Australia, India and the US, running on licensed partners such as Airwallex, Wallex and NIUM.
Independently scored, one dimension at a time. Every dimension is sourced, and we say whether a claim is published, reported, or estimated.
Volopay says most teams issue a first virtual card the same day and connect accounting and approvals in one working session (corporate cards FAQ, checked 27 September 2026); that is vendor-claimed. Xero, QuickBooks Online, MYOB and Zoho Books connect by OAuth, while NetSuite needs an admin to enable SuiteScript and token-based authentication and build a Volopay role. India adds bank-account whitelisting of 1 to 2 working days and 7 to 14 business days for ICICI global cards; no sandbox is published.
Volopay's home pages list 24/7 support by chat, call and WhatsApp plus account manager support, and a customer success manager confirms each subscription plan (help center, checked 27 September 2026). The help center carries about 135 English articles, many with narrated walkthrough videos. Capterra shows 4.5 of 5 overall from 33 reviews and 4.5 for customer service from 30 ratings (reported), a small sample. Support staff enter your account through the Volopay Assistant role, which an admin enables and scopes, with 30-minute logged sessions.
Wallets pay vendors in 130+ countries by SWIFT and local rails, Australian bills go by NPP or BPAY at 1 Australian dollar each, and Singapore payouts settle same day in many currencies (help center, checked 27 September 2026). Cards are prepaid Visa from partners: Airwallex in Australia and the US (CFSB on US physical cards), NIUM in Singapore, LivQuik and ICICI in India. Cashback is 1 percent on Singapore FX transactions and 0 to 1 percent by monthly spend in the US. Credit lines are legacy only, US credit is on a waitlist, and US ACH top-ups take 3 to 5 business days.
Approval policies cover card requests, limit changes, reimbursements, bills and payroll, with amount ranges, department or project overrides and up to 5 approval levels (help center and home page, checked 27 September 2026). Bills are checked for duplicates on vendor, amount, invoice date and due date, and procurement runs an automatic 3-way match of PO, goods receipt and invoice (help center, 8 January 2026). Volopay states SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certification with PCI DSS card infrastructure, but no report or trust portal is public. No 1099, W-9 or e-invoicing support was found, and receipt reminders with card freeze are premium.
Native connectors cover Xero, QuickBooks Online, MYOB, Zoho Books and Tally, pulling chart of accounts, tax codes and vendors and pushing card spend, bills and reimbursements with receipts (help center, checked 27 September 2026). NetSuite sync imports custom fields and segments, creates vendors and posts journals with subsidiary, department and class, but the setup article says extra charges may apply. The web app also lists Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Exact Online connections that no help article documents, so their availability is unconfirmed. Sage Intacct and SAP have no connector and run through the Universal CSV template, which names SAP as an example.
Cards work for businesses in the US, India, UK, Singapore and Australia per the corporate cards FAQ, and payouts reach 130+ countries, but the Singapore wallet holds only SGD and USD (checked 27 September 2026). Multi-entity means switching between connected country accounts; no consolidated group ledger is described. Features vary by market: travel booking is Singapore only and cashback Singapore and US only. TechCrunch reported 700+ customers and 150+ staff in February 2022; no newer count is published.
Only the Australia page shows a number, 'starting from $25/month' depending on billing plan, with no currency named and 'unlimited users'; the global, Singapore, India and Philippines pages say talk to sales (checked 27 September 2026). Airwallex hosts Volopay fee schedules: an FX margin of 0.2 to 0.4 percent for US and Singapore customers, and an Australian schedule dated 19 January 2023 with 0.30 to 0.60 percent FX, SWIFT fees of AUD 20 to 40 and a user fee of AUD 5 or 10. That 2023 per-user fee sits beside the current AU page's 'unlimited users' and the US cards FAQ's 'no per-seat fees', so the current basis needs a quote.
In-product AI is Magic Scan, an OCR that reads vendor, invoice number, due date and line items and matches receipts to card transactions by amount, date, merchant and currency, marking clean matches Auto-Verified (corporate cards page, checked 27 September 2026). Rule-based accounting triggers code the rest. There is no public API reference, developer portal or MCP server on volopay.com, the Volopay GitHub org or the official MCP registry. The web app ships a Developer API page with payment and card scopes, plus webhook settings, that opens only on an upgrade request, so an agent could reach live data only through a custom build on undocumented endpoints. A gated, undocumented API, no MCP server and in-product AI limited to OCR and rules keep agent readiness low.

You are buying one app for prepaid Visa cards, bill pay, reimbursements, payroll payouts and basic procurement, with multi-currency wallets underneath. It suits Singapore, Australian and Indian companies that pay overseas vendors and SaaS tools and close the books in Xero, QuickBooks Online, MYOB, Zoho Books, Tally or NetSuite. TechCrunch reported in 2021 that most clients had 15 to 150 employees. Local rails are the strength: NPP and BPAY in Australia at 1 Australian dollar a payment, same-day payouts from Singapore in many currencies, and a PO, goods receipt and invoice match documented in January 2026.
Volopay does not hold the money or issue the cards itself. Depending on your country, funds and cards sit with Airwallex (Australia and the US, with Community Federal Savings Bank on US physical cards), Wallex and NIUM (Singapore), or Decentro, LivQuik and ICICI (India), each under its own terms. Pricing is quote only almost everywhere, the one published Australian schedule dates from January 2023, and Airwallex says it rebates part of the FX margin it charges US and Singapore customers to Volopay. There is no documented public API, no MCP server, and no Sage Intacct or SAP connector; the web app lists a Developer API and a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central connection, but no help article documents either (checked 27 September 2026).
Get the full fee schedule for your country in the order form: platform fee, per-user or spend-band card fee, FX margin by currency group, SWIFT and local payment fees, and the inactive-account fee the terms mention without a number. Ask which licensed entity holds your balance and issues your cards, and how card disputes run. Confirm whether auto receipt reminders, card freeze rules and the NetSuite connector are in your plan, since the help center lists the first two as premium and says NetSuite may cost extra.
Jobs, mapped to how finance teams actually buy.
Issue a virtual card per tool or ad channel, cap it, and set an auto-block date. In Singapore, FX transactions earn 1 percent cashback that does not expire (help center, November 2024). The Singapore wallet holds SGD and USD only, so other currencies convert at the published FX margin.
Vendors set to NPP take a PayID and settle the same day; BPAY needs a biller code and customer reference number. Bills route through amount-based approval layers before payment. Magic Scan pre-fills bills from uploaded invoices, and someone still reviews each draft.
Approved POs take a goods receipt note with quantities, then an invoice; Volopay runs a 3-way match and alerts on discrepancies before the bill enters bill-pay approval (help center, 8 January 2026). A product catalog links items to vendors and quoted prices. The module is new, so test partial receipts and price variances in a trial.
Xero, QuickBooks Online, MYOB, Zoho Books, Tally and NetSuite pull the chart of accounts, tax codes and vendors, and receive verified card spend, bills and reimbursements with receipts. Accounting rules auto-tag by merchant and card. SAP and Sage Intacct go through a Universal CSV template; the app also lists Business Central, Exact Online and Deskera connections that the help center does not document.
Payroll admins, managers and clerks add beneficiaries and create salary payments with restricted visibility in Australia, India, Singapore and the US (help center, July 2026). Payroll payments follow their own approval policy. The module moves salary payments; the help center does not describe payroll calculation or tax filing.

Here's what it really costs: published rates where a vendor lists them, aggregated quote data where they don't, plus a path to your own number.
Entry price on the Australia pricing page, 'depending on the billing plan', with no currency named; the page lists unlimited users, virtual and physical cards, bill payments, reimbursements and Xero, NetSuite or MYOB sync (checked 27 September 2026). The Australian schedule dated 19 January 2023 charges per user with a 5-user minimum (see AU user access fee).
Global and Singapore plan: a physical card per user, virtual cards, multi-currency wallet, subscription management and accounting integrations; Singapore adds cashback.
Vendor payments, invoice management, reimbursements, multi-level approval and a global collection account, with $0 domestic transfer fees.
All-in-one adds transfers, multi-currency wallets, budgets and custom workflows; Enterprise adds NetSuite, bookkeeping services and custom-designed cards.
Starter or Pro tier with a 5-user minimum, per the Airwallex-hosted Australian schedule dated 19 January 2023. Audit Friendly reads the 25 dollar entry as this fee at the minimum, 5 Starter users at AUD 5, with each further user adding AUD 5 or 10. The current AU page says 'unlimited users' (checked 27 September 2026), so the 2023 fee may no longer apply.
0.2 or 0.4 percent is Airwallex's own fee in its US (24 December 2024) and Singapore (9 January 2025) schedules; 0.30 or 0.60 percent is Volopay's fee in the Australian schedule dated 19 January 2023, by currency group.
January 2023 schedule: local payments free up to 10 or 20 a month then AUD 0.50; non-SWIFT AUD 10; SWIFT AUD 20 shared or AUD 40 ours. NPP and BPAY cost AUD 1 each (help center, July 2026).
Auto receipt reminder and card freeze rules are premium features enabled from the back end on request (help center, 11 February 2026).
The global and Singapore pricing pages list a $0 domestic transfer fee on the accounts payable plan.
In Australia, Airwallex Pty Ltd (AFSL 487221) provides the account and issues cards, with Volopay as its authorised representative 001289147. In Singapore, funds sit in a Wallex Technologies wallet (MAS licence PS20200433) and NIUM Pte. Ltd. issues the cards; in the US, Airwallex US, LLC (NMLS 1928093) and Community Federal Savings Bank; in India, Decentro wallets with LivQuik and ICICI cards (terms pages, checked 27 September 2026). Each partner brings its own terms, safeguarding and dispute process.
The Singapore terms say an account is not a credit card and usage depends on the funded balance, and the credit line article applies to legacy accounts only. US corporate credit is on a waitlist, per the corporate cards page (checked 27 September 2026). US top-ups by ACH direct debit take 3 to 5 business days, so plan float before payroll or large bill runs.
The Australian schedule on Airwallex's site charges AUD 5 or 10 per user a month with a 5-user minimum, but it dates from 19 January 2023, and the current Australia pricing page says 'unlimited users' from $25 a month (checked 27 September 2026). The US corporate cards FAQ says there are no per-seat fees and the card fee depends on monthly spend. Airwallex says it rebates part of the FX margin it charges US and Singapore customers to Volopay (fee schedules, checked 27 September 2026). Get your region's current schedule attached to the order form.
The help center lists Auto Receipt Reminder and Card Freeze as premium features outside the standard offering, enabled from the back end on request (11 February 2026). The NetSuite setup article says additional charges may apply depending on requirements (April 2026). Ask for both in the first quote if month-end depends on them.
No public API reference, developer portal or MCP server was found on volopay.com, its help center, its GitHub org or the official MCP registry (checked 27 September 2026). The web app does ship a Developer API page (API keys with payment and card scopes, unlocked through an upgrade request), webhook settings and a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central connection, none of them publicly documented. Sage Intacct and SAP users map exports through the Universal CSV template. If agent workflows or custom integrations are on the plan, get API, webhook and connector terms in writing.
Volopay Travel is documented for Singapore only, cashback for Singapore and the US only, UPI virtual cards for India only, and payroll for Australia, India, Singapore and the US (help center, checked 27 September 2026). The UK, Canada, UAE and Saudi Arabia sites show no pricing page and name no licensed partner. Check each country's feature list before rolling out across entities.
Scored on what an outside agent can actually reach: the documented API, how it authenticates, and whether the vendor ships an MCP server.
In the product, Magic Scan reads receipts and invoices with OCR, pulls vendor, invoice number, currency, due date and line items, and matches receipts to card transactions by amount, date, merchant and currency; clean matches come back Auto-Verified for review (corporate cards page and bill pay guide, checked 27 September 2026). Accounting rules tag transactions by merchant and card, and a duplicate check flags bills that share vendor, amount and dates. Volopay publishes no accuracy or touchless rates, and no independent test was found.
Exists: no. The official MCP registry returns no Volopay server, volopay.com has no /mcp path or llms.txt file, the help center's llms.txt index lists no API, webhook or MCP article, and the Volopay GitHub org holds six unrelated repositories (checked 27 September 2026). No community-built Volopay MCP server was found either.
Scope: undocumented. Volopay publishes no API reference or developer portal; developers.volopay.com, docs.volopay.com and api.volopay.com all load the same web app shell. The web app's own English text describes a Developer API with a subdomain and secret key, token-based access for cards, expense and payment operations, and real-time card creation, funding, payment creation and status tracking, plus webhook settings; the page opens only after an upgrade request to support. No public documentation describes endpoints, authentication, rate limits or approval controls on writes (checked 27 September 2026).
Turnkey: no. The documented data paths are the accounting syncs to Xero, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, MYOB, Zoho Books and Tally, and CSV exports of the ledger, bill payments, reimbursements and purchase orders. The gated Developer API and webhooks would need a developer to build and host a connector, and Volopay documents neither publicly.
Who wins for whom: A Singapore or Australian team that wants a capped virtual card per tool with an auto-block date and up to 5 approval levels: Volopay. A UK or EU group that wants segregation of duties on 5 sensitive actions and Peppol, SdI or KSeF e-invoicing: Payhawk. A controller who wants an agent to rank violations by risk against uploaded SOPs: Brex.
Approval layers on prepaid cards. Approval policies cover card requests and limit changes with amount ranges, department or project overrides and up to 5 approval levels, and each virtual card for a tool or ad channel can be capped with an auto-block date.
Where it loses: Auto receipt reminders and card freeze rules are premium features enabled from the back end on request, and Volopay's SOC 2 Type 2 claim has no public report or trust portal behind it.

Own licences, segregated duties. Payhawk issues Visa debit cards in seven currencies on its UK and EEA e-money licences, holds five sensitive actions for an independent approver, and lists SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 1.
Where it loses: The MCP page says the MCP cannot change spend policies while the beta tool reference lists manage_spend_policy, and in the US Payhawk states it does not issue 1099 forms.

Policy agents audit card spend. Per Brex, the audit agent checks every expense against uploaded policy and SOPs and ranks violations by risk; Premium adds multiple expense policies and dynamic approval chains, and Smart Card offers merchant card controls.
Where it loses: The trust page lists SOC 1 Type II but the enterprise page says SOC 1 Type I, and the Card Program Terms were revised on 7 April 2026, the day Capital One's purchase closed.

Who wins for whom: An Australian or Indian team closing card spend into MYOB or Tally: Volopay. A UK or EU group closing into SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud or DATEV: Payhawk. A company closing card spend into Workday Financials, Oracle Fusion or Dynamics 365 F&O: Brex.
Native sync to APAC ledgers. Native connectors for Xero, QuickBooks Online, MYOB, Zoho Books and Tally push verified card spend with receipts, accounting rules auto-tag by merchant and card, and NetSuite sync posts journals with subsidiary, department and class.
Where it loses: Sage Intacct and SAP have no connector and run through the Universal CSV template, and the NetSuite setup article says extra charges may apply, so price the connector in the first quote.

Big-ERP sync, sold as add-ons. Native connectors cover NetSuite with custom segments and real-time bidirectional sync, Sage Intacct with dimensions and amortisation, Business Central and SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, with expenses exported on review and payments on settlement.
Where it loses: The NetSuite, Business Central, Sage Intacct and SAP connectors and extra entities are quoted add-ons, and NetSuite, Sage and Dynamics setups still go through an Implementation Manager.
Source: AF score rationale: GL / ERP fit 87; Payhawk pricing tiers and watch-outs.

Pre-coded spend exports to NetSuite. Native connectors cover NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Business Central, Dynamics 365 F&O, Oracle Fusion and Workday Financials; NetSuite imports classes, departments, locations and custom fields, with intercompany journal entries and amortization.
Where it loses: Bill sync covers only QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero and Sage Intacct, and Essentials stops at two entities, so multi-entity close needs Premium at $12 per active user a month.
Source: AF score rationale: GL / ERP fit 84; Brex pricing tiers and watch-outs.

The corporate cards page says corporate credit is launching in the US soon and a waitlist is open; no launch date is given. The date shown is when Audit Friendly observed it.
Volopay's help channel posted 13 short clips between 8 and 13 July 2026 on spend controls, freeze rules, invoice upload by email, payroll bulk upload and approval policies.
The flag rule guide dated 11 February 2026 describes automatic receipt reminder emails and card freeze rules. Both are premium features enabled from the back end on request.
Help articles and a 10-minute walkthrough dated 8 January 2026 cover a product catalog, goods receipt notes on active POs, and an automatic PO, GRN and invoice match before bill payment.
US customers can link a business checking account through Plaid and top up their USD balance by ACH direct debit. Funds take 3 to 5 business days to arrive.
Volopay documented Confirmation of Payee checks on AUD transfers into its Airwallex-backed Australian accounts, part of the industry rollout from July 2025. Payers must use 'Airwallex Pty Ltd' as the account name to avoid mismatch warnings.
In Australia, the pricing page starts at $25 a month depending on billing plan, with no currency stated and 'unlimited users' (checked 27 September 2026). The older Australian fee schedule on Airwallex's site (dated 19 January 2023) charges a user access fee of AUD 5 a month on Starter or AUD 10 on Pro with a 5-user minimum. Audit Friendly reads the 25 dollar entry as that minimum on Starter, 5 users at AUD 5, which is why AUD is inferred. If that 2023 schedule still applied, 50 users would cost about AUD 250 to 500 a month before FX and payment fees (Audit Friendly estimate); confirm the current basis in the quote.
Elsewhere the plans are quote only. In the US, Volopay says the card fee depends on monthly card spend and there are no per-seat fees; Singapore and India show no prices. FX margins run 0.2 to 0.6 percent by region and currency group, and SWIFT payments cost AUD 20 to 40 in Australia under the schedule dated 19 January 2023 (published schedules, checked 27 September 2026).
The published terms make fees non-refundable, let Volopay amend fees and terms by posting updates, and allow a monthly fee on inactive accounts without stating the amount. US disputes go to arbitration seated in California, Singapore disputes to the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and the Australian terms follow Australian law (terms pages, checked 27 September 2026). No term length, auto-renewal or notice period is published, so put them in the order form.
For data, the help center documents CSV exports of the Volopay ledger, bill payments, paid reimbursement claims and purchase orders. A balance left in a closed account comes back only through a refund request that Volopay must approve, so move funds out before you cancel.
Volopay says most teams issue a first virtual card the same day and set up accounting and approvals in one working session (vendor claim, corporate cards FAQ, checked 27 September 2026). A dedicated onboarding team and a customer success manager handle setup and plan configuration.
Plan for KYC with the partner that holds funds, bank-account whitelisting in India (1 to 2 working days), 7 to 14 business days for ICICI global cards in India, and a NetSuite admin to enable SuiteScript, token-based authentication and a Volopay role. No public sandbox is offered.
Not today. Volopay has no MCP server in the official registry, on its site or on GitHub, and no public API reference (checked 27 September 2026). Claude cannot read balances, approve bills or freeze cards.
Claude can work with exports: summarise a ledger or payments CSV, check GL coding, or draft approval policies for an admin to enter. The web app's code includes a Developer API page (API keys with payment and card scopes) and webhook settings that open on request, so ask Volopay whether API or webhook access comes with your plan, and on what terms.
